Why do we want to hit the ball higher when playing golf?
When playing the game, you will encounter obstacles such as trees but most of the time the reason is the wind. If you have the wind in your back, the wind can help you to increase distance. You can use this to your advantage. Increasing distance is a great way to use the wind, let me show you how you can hit the ball with a higher trajectory.
1. Ball position:
Play the ball forward in your stance.
2. Weight on the right foot at an address position:
Redistribute your weight at an address position, so that you feel a bit more weight on your right side. This will shift your center of gravity. Your weight will be slightly behind the ball, which is where it needs to be at impact if you want to achieve a higher trajectory with your shots as shown in the image above.
3. Hand back at an address position:
When addressing the ball, adjust your hands slightly back towards the middle of your body.
4. Hand high at the end of the swing:
As you swing, visualize finishing with your hands high. Make a normal swing. The goal is to finish with your hands high, as shown in the image above.
REMEMBER:
- Play the ball forward in your stance;
- Your weight at address should be more on the right side;
- When setting up, adjust your hands slightly back; and
- Finish your swing with your hands high.
